Sonia Delaunay in Paris

The little art seeker has seen the beautiful exhibition devoted to the great painter,pionneer of the abstraction: Sonia Delaunay ,in the museum of Modern Art, in Paris!!!

With her round face and her tomboy haircut, she looks witty and appears on center stage of creation in the 1930,coming out of a pile of printed fabrics with abstract forms!!!

Mrs Sonia Delaunay was born Sarah Stern ,nearby Odessa in 1885.Her parents who are people of modest means , hand her over to a rich uncle from St Petersburg ,who has no child of his own .

She becomes Sonia Terk and receives a solid artistic education!

During her youth,she spends many stays in Finland and will bring back from there very colourful paintings .

They represent simple people from the countryside.

The little art seeker loves this daring woman and the way she paints like the french Fauves at the time!!!

She’s very much inpired by Gauguin’s creations.

She arrives in Paris ,where her adoptive parents have family at the beginning of the century.

There she meets the great love of her life,Robert Delaunay.

He’s a painter and loves to recreate the impact of colors that creates vibration and rythms upon the canvas!!!

They will work together and Sonia will be very often considered as wife of the graint painter but not as a wholly artist!!!

Sonia is a modern and free woman who doesn’t make any distinction between the different arts .

For her all the arts are equal!!!

She paints, she designs printed fabrics ,imagines painting-coats(for Gloria Swanson , the star of silent cinema) !!!

She realizes book bindings and advertising posters !Her creative mind is in search for all the forms of expression!!!!

In 1917,with the Russian Revolution she looses her real property in Russia.

She takes refuge in Spain with husband and son and launches her own fashionn house in order to make a leaving!!!

She’s an avant gardist designer!!!

Back in France, she creates the”Sonia Delaunay”house!!!

A fashion adventure that will end with the 1929 crisis.

Hats for tomboys driving whizzing convertible cars, ties, bathing suits,she designs everything!!!

Art historians criticized her for scattering herself!!!

But looking at her fabrics ,you realize she was searching to attract the attention and she had the will to strike hard thanks to the rythms of colors.
