the museum Jacquemart André in Paris
Hi friends!
in this chilly afternoon in Paris,I decided to visit the beautiful museum Jacquemart André in the 8th district of the capital just nearby the champs Elysées.
When you enter this place,it seems that you’re back in the 19th century when at the end of the century Paris transformed into a modern capital by the baron Haussmann was one of the most beautiful city in Europe!
The one who bought the place to shelter their art collection from the 18th century were a couple of art lovers:Mr and Mrs Jacquemart André.
He was a protestant banker and married a young artist renowned for her portraits.
He even purchased contemporary painters such as Ingres and Delacroix.
The hotel particulier reflects their love for arts and studies. When Mr André dies he leaves this little paradise to his wife Nélie who will perpetuate his memory and will continue to develop their collection.
The place is made of several rooms that reveals the couple’s intimacy:
Their bedrooms, their music salon ,their winter garden, their studies room…
You seem to be back in time of crinolines and top hats .
Mr and Mrs André were totally convinced of the importance of the collectors’role and their responsibility to influence the people’s taste.
The little art seeker and your guide Caroline recommend you to vist this little paradise ,next time you come to Paris!
